Porto (and Gaia), Portugal

We visited Porto now in April, and the city is very beautiful. Even though it was a lot of people, it felt quite relaxed. Some of the photos are of and from Gaia, the twin city on the other side of the river Douro connected with several bridges.

Both cities has a lot of elevation changes, so be ready for some work out when walking through the streets of these Portuguese cities.

Paris, France

In between we where attending to the It’s Art Master Classes at the National Library a couple of years ago, we had a stroll through the Parc de Bercy and along the river Seine.

Maybe not the expected photos from this city with so many tourist attractions, but nevertheless you shouldn’t overlook the hidden gems hiding in plain sight.

Ronda, Spain

When we made our road trip trough Southern Spain last winter, we didn’t plan it very carefully, but Ronda was one of the places that was a sure stop along the way. It was also one of those places we was really eager to make a blog post about, but somehow it has taken us many months to come to this point that its ready.

Ronda is famous for the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain (Plaza de Toros de Ronda), witch is actually open to the public. The other tings are the three bridges and the 100 meter deep canyon that is cutting the city into two halves. There are several ways to get down to the water level in the bottom of the canyon.

Paraty, Rio de Janeiro – Brazil

Paraty is located at the Costa Verde (Green Coast) in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The village was established in 1597 and after the discovery of gold in the mountains of the state of Minas Gerias, Paraty became an export harbor for the gold. Caminho do Ouro (The Gold Trail) its a 1200 km trail linking Paraty to Diamantina (via Oro Preto and Tiradentes).

As you see in some of the photos, water comes into the streets with the high tide. It was done on purpose, constructed as to make the water clean the streets. We visited the city on a humid and cloudy day in 2008.

Notre-Dame de Paris

Notre-Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris), or just simply Notre Dame is one of the most famous and most visited Gothic cathedrals in the world. It’s situated on the Île de la Cité on the river Seine in Paris, France.

When we visited the city on a sunny but cold and windy weekend in the spring of 2016, we used the opportunity to take a closer look at this impressive building.

Travel tips for Spain (while driving)

We had a wonderful time traveling in Southern Spain, but we also learned something that we want to share with you. We limit our tips to the South, as we haven’t been traveling in the North yet, maybe they stay the same, maybe not. We will update accordingly.

Update, we’ve now been a few weeks driving around in Northern Spain and will add some text in blue where appropriate.

Museu Nacional de cèramica i de les arts sumptuàries, Valencia, Spain

The National Museum of Ceramic and Decorative Arts is Valencia’s wonderland of luxurious, fantastical and rare old objects. You feel in awe when you walk towards the building and see the walls made of different colored stone, plaster and metal.

We have been in the beautiful and cosy city of Valencia, Spain, about a year ago. It wasn’t meant to be a photo trip… But we took a lot of pictures and snapshots, which we have recently transformed into a book.

Trondheim

About 10 years ago we took a day to walk through Trondheim, about one hour by car from where we live. Like many other cities, it is cut by a river, Nidelva. The third biggest city in Norway, with almost 200.000 inhabitants. Established by  Olav Trygvason over a thousand year ago.
