After lots of beta testing, Reikan Focal version 2.9.6 is out with new looks and increased performance. Focal is a Camera Calibrator and Analysis Software for Nikon and Canon cameras.

Filming With DSLR

Ever since Nikon launched the D90 back in 2008, people has wanted to use their DSLR for filming. I must admit I’m still a bit puzzled why so many would like to use, or even buy, a DSLR that has been fine-tuned over decades to be hold up to the eye, looking through the viewfinder and take stills, to handhold and look at the screen while filming. I mean, doesn’t a dedicated film camera do a better job as it has been specifically designed for that job in mind? Well, that doesn’t seem to keep people away from buying and using their DSLR to make a movie, so what do we need to keep in mind?

Nikon predictions for 2018

Historically it has been relatively easy to predict what will come out of Nikons production plants, but this has changed to be increasingly more and more difficult in the later years. A couple of reasons for that are the economy crises and the flooding of a Thailand plant in 2011. So I guess this could be the reason that it wasn’t an immediate replacement for the D300s and the D700 and by this messing up the time line a bit. Lately they’ve also struggled with reorganization and saving money because of shrinking market for compacts and DSLR’s.

20 tips to improve your photography

As most of us, I guess you’ve come  home, uploading your photos to your computer, browsing through them eager to share some online and thinking…. “hmm, I don’t want to share any of these online, not even those I was sure would be great when I pressed the shutter button”. What happened? The camera does a very good job determining the white balance, exposure and focus, but the rest of it is controlled by the person who took the photo. So don’t blame the camera in the first place.
