Little cemetery angels

When on a short early Autumn trip hunting for Stave Churches here in Norway, we discovered some enchanting small details present on a few cemeteries. These are very small (enough to fit on the palm of your hand) angel statues adorning a few modern graves. In other words, you won’t find them everywhere – at least, that’s how it was back in August this year.

These little fellas are very alluring, evoking good feelings when we come closer to observe them. Their expressions and pose are quite vivid. Perhaps they come to life on Halloween nights? They are literally the children of the graves.

Briksdal glacier (Briksdalsbreen), Norway

Briksdalsbreen is maybe the best known arm of the bigger Jostedalsbreen in Norway, the biggest glacier on continental Europe. Its not only the glacier that are spectacular, the path from the parking presents us with some breathtaking impressions as well.

Sognefjellet

Sognefjellet is a mountain pass – the highest in Northern Europe – between Sognefjorden and Lom, in Norway. You can use the Tourist Route 55 and indulge in wild towering mountains of Jutunheimen Nasjonallpark and open views, where you basically go from sea level to the roof of Norway in 30 minutes driving.

Deer

We are not animal photographers, but sometimes, nature has gifted us with some fun, great opportunities to capture wildlife like this. Here you see a few shots of deer we have taken on different occasions – all of them in Hemne/Aure in Mid-Norway.

Nidarosdomen or Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway

On our previous post, we have shared photos we took from Trondheim, about 10 years ago. It’s impossible not to celebrate the beautiful Nidarosdomen or Nidaros cathedral as one of the most iconic landmarks, if not the most iconic landmark in that small city.

About 10 years ago we took a day to walk through Trondheim, about one hour by car from where we live. Like many other cities, it is cut by a river, Nidelva. The third biggest city in Norway, with almost 200.000 inhabitants. Established by  Olav Trygvason over a thousand year ago.

Fascinating ice crystals at Neshaugen

Ten years ago, on a beautiful sunny morning, we went for a walk at Neshaugen, a small place in Hemne. Our neighbour village today, it was the place where Ove grew up.

Flowers and Frost

Late summer, early Autumn last year (2016), sometime around  I looked by the window and saw a great opportunity on what became a beautiful sunny day. A thin layer of frost covered the landscape and marked the end of the flowers in our garden.
